Marathasa is famed for its cherries, almonds, apples and pears; trees that require a cooler climate than the searing heat found elsewhere in Cyprus. The high, north-facing slopes of the Marathasa valley are ideal. 

The people of Marathasa have always worked the land, whether cultivating the vineyards for wine, or growing fruit, nuts and vegetables to feed the family or make local delicacies to sell.  The orchards which supply Casale Panayiotis are situated in the lower part of the valley, making them ideal for growing all manner of citrus fruits, stone fruit, olives, grapes, nuts and vegetables
